Youth Group – at EPUMC

I have been involved in the youth group at Eastern Parkway since I was in sixth grade. We’ve always done lots of fun activities and games. For example, I remember one time when we had to take 100 marbles out of one bin and put them in another using only our feet.

The highlight each year, of course, is our annual retreat. Spending a weekend in a cabin with your best friends is an incredible experience. Youth group is a place where I can have fun with friends that share my values and beliefs while bringing me closer to my faith and God. I have formed many great friendships with other youth and adults over the years, and I truly consider the wonderful people in my youth group to be a second family to me.

The youth group also has a strong impact in the community. We go Christmas caroling at a nursing home every year, and there are many members from the youth group present when our church goes to the Regional Food Bank to volunteer. The youth group always leads the church in the AIDS walk and the Crop Walk each year to make ourselves known in the community, as well as raising money for a cause that means a lot to us.

Being involved in this youth group has been an awesome experience that every young person should have.
